Padabhyanga: Ayurvedic Foot Massage

Padabhyanga: Ayurvedic Foot Massage

Padabhyanga is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy that involves massaging the feet with warm oils to promote relaxation, balance, and overall well-being. A soothing Ayurvedic foot massage is often prescribed for issues related to feet, numbness, cracks, stiffness, constriction etc., as well as improving vision and promoting sleep.

Balance your lifestyle

  • Apply warm oils to the feet, typically applying some gentle pressure, in a circular motion.
  • The massage focuses on specific pressure points and reflex zones on the feet.
  • The treatment can be performed by a practitioner or self-administered.

Oils Used

  • Sesame oil (Taila): Nourishes and moisturises the skin, releases the Vata.
  • Coconut oil/Ghee: Cooling and soothing, releases the Pitta.
  • Other oils like mustard or olive oil may also be used based on individual needs.

Duration

  • Can be done for 5-10 minutes before bath or at bedtime.

Benefits
